Tyri (2019)
Rustad Primary School, Municipality of Ås

I was commissioned by the municipality of Ås to create an art installation for Rustad Primary School, which opened in 2019. On the northern feature wall of the atrium, I installed a sculptural relief composed of several bronze castings. These castings repeat three distinct shapes inspired by the Latin alphabet’s A, B, and C, as well as the ancient runic writing system.

The work, Tyri, is also inspired by the surrounding natural landscape, particularly the local pine trees, which are a defining feature of the area. Children’s play and learning served as key sources of inspiration. Each bronze element on the wall can be imagined as a solitary letter, symbol, or fantasy figure—like a coded language for a thinking or playful child, forming their own narrative, meaning, and interpretation.
